The package was created using VB6.0. and requires MS Windows to run.

It was developed and tested under W7 and it is not known if it will work with any other OS, (information welcomed).

INSTALLATION

Double click the 'sorbus_id_setup.exe' file and accept the defaults with the possible exception of the program folder. As with most 'SetUp' programs, this will  install the package in a sub directory of the 'Program Files' folder. If you want it to go somewhere else, click and select/enter the name of an alternative folder. If the folder doesn't already exist, the program will create it. You'll be given the options of installing an activation icon on both your desktop and QuickLaunch folder.

The actual program is called sorbus_id.exe

There is a in-built 'Help' facility which uses your default browser to provide help on the various sections of the package.

NB as of this date, the sid.dta file is incomplete but the package can be used to gain familiarity. I shall update the data file from time to time but all of the data on each species has to be entered by hand which is a long process. I'm currently up to S. coxii, (22a out of the 72 in Dr. McAllister's book).
